About North Muddy

North Muddy is a private fly fishing club nestled in southern York County within the scenic Muddy Creek watershed. Founded in 2010 by Don Currie, Jim May, and Tim Kinsley, the club was created with a simple but enduring vision: to preserve exceptional trout water while fostering a strong community of dedicated fly anglers.

Today, North Muddy encompasses several hundred primarily wooded acres, rich with native hardwoods including oak, poplar, sycamore, and black walnut. At the heart of the property lies more than two miles of pristine freestone trout stream, thoughtfully divided into eight beats of approximately a quarter mile each. This structure provides members with a quality angling experience rooted in solitude, access, and stewardship.

A historic rail trail from the old Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad (“Ma & Pa”) runs through the center of the property, offering easy access to the stream while adding a unique sense of heritage and character to the landscape.

Our waters sustain a healthy population of wild brown trout and stream-bred rainbows. North Muddy is firmly committed to catch-and-release practices, ensuring the continued vitality of the fishery. Exceptional water quality is evidenced and documented through an annual entomology study, reinforcing our dedication to conservation and responsible management.

North Muddy is home to approximately 60 members who serve not only as anglers but as stewards of the land and water. The club is governed by a communicative and transparent Board of Directors and managed through a committee structure that encourages participation and shared responsibility. Operations are funded primarily through member dues, reinforcing our independence and member-driven mission.

Beyond the stream, North Muddy offers a beautiful lodge designed for comfort and fellowship. The lodge sleeps eight to ten guests and features a full kitchen, Wi-Fi, a welcoming game room, a well-appointed fly shop, and an outstanding deck with sweeping views of the property. It serves as a gathering place where conservation, fly fishing, and camaraderie intersect.

North Muddy is more than a place to fish — it is a tight-knit community united by a shared passion for fly fishing, conservation, and enduring friendships.
